(Belated) Naxxramas Complete and a Note on Updates
Posted by Toque in blog, world of warcraft on 01 18th, 2009So I’m a bit late in posting — bsp cleared Naxxramas on January 2, 2009 but I’ve been so busy that I never got around to posting!
Why, you ask? Well I started my new job on January 5. As a lot of you know, I finally got a permanent teaching contract — I’m now officially a kindergarten teacher! The position started after the holiday break and as you can imagine, I have been incredibly busy. My first two weeks so far has gone really well. I love the job and my students! I teach both a morning and afternoon kindergarten class at my school so it’s a long day. I taught 4th grade for four years back in the states so I was prepared for (and have embraced) the challenging work, but because of the age difference it really has been like starting my first year of teaching all over again — lots of evenings spent crafting lesson plans, activities and things for my classroom. But I am so much happier than I was substitute teaching. So that’s where my time has gone lately!
It doesn’t mean I won’t be around or that I’ve stopped playing, of course. I just don’t have quite as much time during the week to play as I used to. I would like to say that WOW, Kel’Thuzad was a cake walk. I found Sapphiron to be harder, personally. Anyway, we got some good loots but I was too excited to hit prnt scrn when we actually downed him and got the achievement, so I nabbed a photo of me taking Kel’Thuzad’s place on his throne ;) The Fall of Naxxramas was incredibly fun, though I won’t be able to participate in as many guild raids now that I’m teaching full-time. They run too late! I’ll sneak in on weekend raids and such instead. And in the meantime I’ll get around to leveling some alts ;)
Hope everyone had a nice Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Posted by Toque in blog, world of warcraft on 12 22nd, 2008This evening our stellar BSP and Icecrown Champion team finished off the Contruct Quarter and breezed through the Military Quarter. Now all that’s left is Frostwyrm Lair, and we’ll be tackling that soon. With the holidays coming up this next week we’ll probably have a little break in our raid schedule, but that just means plenty of time to farm Badges of Heroism to put towards my T7 gloves and chest.
This evening I lucked out and received the Scepter of Murmuring Spirits from Instructor Razuvious. All things said and done and based on the four quarters we’ve cleared so far, I think the Military was my favourite. It was definitely a successful night.
As a teacher I am lucky enough to have a two week break for Christmas like my students. The downside is that all of the kiddies are also on break, which means the queue times are ridiculous and there’s more ganking than usual. (I’m confident that most of the kiddies are Alliance side, *cough*) And there’s no such thing as a quiet daytime period to get stuff done. On the bright side, when school resumes in January I will be on a permanent, full-time Kindergarten teaching contract finally, yay! No more subbing for me. Things most likely will get a little busy in RL as I settle in to my new classroom but never fear, I’ll still be here.
Wishing you and yours a very merry Winter’s Veil. Erm, I mean Christmas. Or whatever holiday you celebrate :) May you enjoy it with family and friends and cherish the gift of being with them.
Naxxramas Plague Quarter Complete!
Posted by Toque in blog, world of warcraft on 12 17th, 2008Tonight BSP and Icecrown Champions ran Naxx. We cleared the Arachnid Quarter which went very smoothly now that I’ve cleared it before, and then we decided to clear the Plague Quarter… which was a success! Let me tell you, though, I am not a fan of Heigan the Unclean! What a pain that boss was! We managed to down him but didn’t get the achievement for doing so without anyone dying is all I gotta say, hehe… at least not this time ;) I got lucky with loot in the Plague Quarter, though, and Loatheb dropped two gems for me: Fungi-Stained Coverings AND I won the token for my Heroes’ Dreamwalker Spaulders… my first T7 piece. WOOT!
But that’s not the only raiding I did this evening. Earlier today I did 10 man and 25 man Sartharion and while I didn’t walk away with my gloves token, I did nab the Dragon Hide Bag, which was nice. In Heroic Nexus I scored my epic healing mace, War Mace of Unrequited Love, and with badges I purchased both my Egg of Mortal Essence and Idol of Lush Moss. It has been a very busy (and exciting) day!
I am having a ridiculous amount of fun with Druid healing. Who knew?
In other news, Winter’s Veil started this week and you know what that means… I’m all over it. I love holidays in-game! Miyari over at WoWHead wrote up a great guide that you should check out here. I managed to nab the red santa hat from Heroic Nexus. When you think of Christmas… I mean… Winter’s Veil, don’t YOU imagine sexy cows in skimpy red winter outfits? Happy Winter’s Veil!
Naxxramas Arachnid Quarter Complete
Posted by Toque in blog, world of warcraft on 12 12th, 2008Most of you that have read my articles or know me in-game know that I’m not much of a raider. I love to PvP though! However, recently I’ve been blessed with some really good friends and have had some huge fun running level 80 instance heroics… including my first run in Naxxramas (10 man) this evening, which was a huge success.
I went resto when I hit 80 because my guild has had such a hard time finding enough healers. I was a little reluctant to respec because I tried out being a Holy Priest for awhile on Ameythyst and I hated it. I loathed being a healbot and Priest healing was just so boring. But resto heals on a Druid are so much different! Maybe I just needed a big break from instances, but these days I can’t get enough of them and I’m really enjoying my Druid healer role. And of course just hitting 80 recently, I never imagined I’d be running Naxxramas tonight… but lo and behold, I ran the Arachnid Quarter with BSP and some good friends in another guild, Knights of Winter, and WOW was it a blast! I walked out with 2 epics (on 3 bosses!) and the Arachnid Quarter completion achievement. Earlier today in heroic VH and heroic UK I also got three upgrades, one being epic and two being blue. So that means today I picked up a total of 5 new pieces, and before I logged I mailed off mats to a tailor friend who is crafting me the epic Wispcloak. I am quickly getting geared up and loving every minute of it.
I know it’s not anything special since there are loads of people out there who are insanely geared already and in comparison I’m an undergeared noob, but for me it’s a big deal since I haven’t really been much of a raider in years now. This is huge for me! :) We learned a lot along the way and I look forward to future Naxx completions and beyond. <3 BSP and KoW!
For the Horde!
Posted by Toque in blog, world of warcraft on 12 7th, 2008WOW, what an exciting weekend! I participated in two amazing raids to complete the For the Horde achivement to bring down all four of the Alliance bosses. It was INTENSE. It started late Saturday night when a group of us decided to go for them all. Until three in the morning we battled hard and took down Exodar, Darnassus and Ironforge on our first attempt. When we arrived in Stormwind we were so pumped and ready to go — but arrived too late, for another raid group had already tagged the king. We helped by defending against the pesky Alliance trying to wipe their attempt, but of course didn’t get the Stormwind Achievement since we didn’t tag first. To finish off the achievement we all got together again today and pummeled Stormwind a second time, and this time our raid got the tag without any other groups to contend with and successfully took King Varian Wrynn down in a blaze of glory. You should have heard the cheers on Ventrilo!
I’ve run in a few Alliance city raid leader groups lately and the big difference with our successful group was that everyone was on Ventrilo. Not to mention the leader actually knew what he was doing. It was a rush! I am now the proud owner of the Black War Bear, and I ride it around happily. For the Horde!
